Max fidgeted, bringing one hand to his mouth to chew on the tip of his glove. He was a little nervous, the last time he had seen his cousin he'd just been a tiny thing that cried and made other sounds and didn't really seem like a proper smeet at all. Now though he would be older, and Max had no idea what he would be like. He could tell soogie was really excited about seeing his sister, but Max wasn't sure how he was supposed to be excited about relatives he barely knew.
Finally the door opened and Aunt Xen stepped in, carrying his cousin in her arms. She bent down, setting Bart down onto the floor. The young smeet stood, teetering a little unsteadily before he found his balance, looking up at Max.
Max's soogie hugged his sister, then turned to the two smeets. "Bart, this is your cousin, Maximilian. Bartholomew, you remember Max, don't you?" Xen spoke up then, her voice quiet. "Say hello, Bart."
Bart blinked dark green eyes, then looked away shyly. "Hi 'Lian"
Max stared at him. "But I'm Max." He crosses his arms over his chest.
Bart smiled a little. "'Lian"
"Max"
"'Lian!"
"SOOGIE! Tell him my name? He's getting it WRONG!"
